Staggering, which is mechanically referred to as Stunning in God of War: Ragnarök is a fantastic mechanic that players can make use of in the game’s combat scenarios. When applied to a certain point, the Stun mechanic will push enemies to the ground, allowing you to approach them and activate special attacks called Stun Grabs. On weaker enemies these attacks will often defeat the enemy, making it easy to Stun and take out multiple enemies in quick succession.
The Stun mechanic is tied directly to the Stun Bar, which appears beneath the health bar of every enemy that you encounter in God of War: Ragnarök. Maybe attacks apply Stun, and you can increase the amount of Stun applied by equipping different weapon parts to your Leviathan Axe and Blades of Chaos.
When the Stun Bar is filled completely, the player will stun the enemy, allowing them to approach it and press R3 to trigger a Stun Grab move. Some of the best ways to stun enemies include bashing them with your shield or using Atreus’ sound arrows to stun them in quick succession. Stunning can also be extremely helpful for dealing with more powerful enemies, like bosses, as you can stun them and then unleash a powerful attack to deal a large amount of damage all at once.
On top of Stunning enemies, players can also make use of the parry mechanic, which in and of itself will apply some Stun to the Stun Bar.
