In a video shared on TikTok by the dog’s owner, under the username georgethegolden21, the dog can be seen running towards the bed, where his “mom” is sleeping, and jumping all over her, demanding attention.

The clip, which has been viewed almost 500,000 times and received more than 53,500 likes, has a caption that reads: “It’s hectic but wouldn’t change it for a thing!!”

Golden retrievers are among the most-loved dogs in America, and they came in third place in the American Kennel Club (AKC) 2021 Most Popular Dog Breed Full Ranking List.

In the rankings, the breed comes after only Labrador retrievers, which have been on top of the list for 31 straight years, and French bulldogs, in second place for the last two years.

Golden retrievers have slightly increased their popularity again after falling to fourth place in 2020; the breed had been in third place every year since 2014.

A little-known fact about golden retrievers is that they don’t descend from Russian circus dogs, as the myth goes, but come from Scotland.

According to AKC, in 1864, Lord Tweedmouth, of Berwick in Scotland, purchased a yellow retriever named Nous and bred him with a liver-colored tweed water spaniel called Belle. It is very likely that’s where the modern golden retriever comes from.

Most TikTokers who commented on the post loved both the dog and its routine. One user ITTVx wrote: “The biggest stretch for the goodest boy.”
