Footage of Sadie the dog joining Tennessee lineman Randall Taylor and his wife, Cadie, for their first dance together was shared to the groom’s TikTok account returnofrandall.
The clip has been viewed 3.9 million times, with viewers reacting warmly to the loved-up scene.
While owners are increasingly eager to include their four-legged friends in the festivities, it’s important to make preparations to ensure any dog attending a wedding is calm and comfortable.
British pet charity the Dogs Trust is eager for owners to be mindful of what they call “situation-stacking,” which is any instance “where short-lived and separate situations happen in quick succession.”
“For your pooch, all the feelings of excitement or worry stack up until they are completely overwhelmed and unable to relax,” the Dogs Trust website explains.
“With the continuous excitement of a wedding day, it’s easy to see how your pooch may experience this. It’s important to factor in short breaks away from the action and to make sure your dog has a chance to unwind.”
The Dogs Trust experts recommend creating a space away from the noise for your dog to nap and also enlisting someone to serve as a designated dog-sitter to take them on a few well-timed walks and give them a break from the celebrations.
Not that Sadie, the dog featured in this particular clip, appears in need of a break. In fact, it looked like the party was just getting started for the golden retriever, who can be seen happily walking over to her owner Randall and his bride, Cadie, on the dancefloor.
Randall then scoops her up, with the happy couple sharing a slow dance with her. “Sadie found her forever momma!” the groom wrote.
Sadie played a key part in their big day, with another video showing her accompanying the bride and groom down the aisle during the ceremony.
Randall’s special bond with Sadie was highlighted in a previous viral video in which the lineman laid a trail of taco shells up to his house in the hopes of snagging himself a girlfriend.
The clip, which has been reposted on several occasions, has been viewed 41 million times in total. Sadie can be seen hindering Randall’s efforts by eating the tacos left in the trail behind her owner.
It had the desired effect, with Randall going on to meet and now marry Cadie Brooke Taylor.
Randall was careful to keep fans informed on his courtship, even sharing a video of Sadie meeting Cadie for the first time.
Given the role Sadie played in bringing the two together and her place in their family, it evidently felt right to include the golden retriever in their first dance.
It was a move that proved popular with viewers on social media.
“Awwww Sadie found a momma,” Yentroc wrote, with adultingdoctor adding: “I really hope tacos were included at the reception somehow.”
“I love that we have been watching this story since the first video,” theresa_maiden wrote, while baddogmiles commented: “Sadie did a good job.”
“I love it! Sadie has a momma,” Melissa Robertson wrote.
