Good Pillow was founded by Parkland shooting survivor and activist David Hogg and software developer William LeGate as an alternative to MyPillow due to CEO Mike Lindell’s strong support of former President Donald Trump. Hogg later left the business to focus on college.
Lindell has been an outspoken critic of the 2020 presidential election and has repeatedly made unfounded claims about mass voter fraud. He’s also said Trump will be reinstated to the White House later this year.
Writing on Twitter, Good Pillow said: “The first Good Pillow has arrived from the factory.
“You will be hearing a lot more from us very soon - we’ve been quiet… heads down, ramping up manufacturing in the middle of a pandemic.”
“Made in TX by workers earning a living wage. Profits support good causes. Coming soon,” the company said.
They shared a photo of the pillow sitting on a desk.
In another tweet, Good Pillow added: “Full details will be announced soon - including a surprise we think everyone will like.”
Good Pillow’s website includes a manifesto committing the company to progressive causes, including hiring unionized workers and being “sustainably sourced and to be environmentally accountable.”
On February 4, Hogg explained the rationale behind the company on Twitter, saying it meant to “prove progressives can make a better pillow, run a better business and help make the world a better place while doing it.”
Lindell responded to the creation of Good Pillow in comments to Axios on February 4.
“Good for them,” Lindell said. “Nothing wrong with competition that does not infringe on someone’s patent.”
MyPillow has made Lindell a multi-millionaire but his claims that the 2020 presidential election was stolen from former President Trump were followed by some major retailers dropping the company’s products.
Bed Bath & Beyond and Kohl’s cited a fall in demand for MyPillow when they withdrew the products from sale in January, according to the Associated Press (AP).
Lindell blamed the decision on the pressure companies had received from social media users calling on them to remove his products from their stores.
“They’re succumbing to the pressure from these attacks,” Lindell said. “I’m one of their best-selling products ever. They’re going to lose out. It’s their loss if they want to succumb to the pressure.”
The pillow magnate recently predicted that the Supreme Court will rule unanimously to reinstate Trump once they see the evidence he has to present. Courts have consistently rejected claims of fraud in the 2020 election.
“Millions are going to see it. And those Supreme Court justices are going to look at it then, and they’re going to go 9-0 that this country was attacked. The election is going to come down. Donald Trump will be in office by this fall, for sure,” Lindell said on June 22.
