Torchy Swinson is a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to 19 who lost her husband three years ago. To ease her sadness, Swinson has the hope that how she will one day see him again and she shared it in a now-viral TikTok video on July 14.
Studies show that 11 percent of people in the United States are very afraid of death, while 25 percent say they are not. Swinson’s vision of life after death has seemingly been moving people from one side to the other, confronting them with her beautiful image of how it will be.
“I think I’ll be riding this bus, there will be all ages on this bus, there will be very young to very old like me, I’ll hear some quiet laughter and some of them will be talking to each other and suddenly the bus comes to an abrupt stop,” she says in the video.
“The bus driver will stand up, he’ll say ’this is the end of the route, you must depart the bus, please do so in an orderly fashion.’ Nobody’s pushing and shoving, because we know we’ve got eternity. Then I reach out, get my steady legs under me, I walk to the front of the bus.
“I start to step off, wondering who’s going to meet me there. I step off the bus and I immediately see him, he’s got his Levis on, rolled up at the hem, got a white t-shirt on, he’s got those signature yellow socks on and his penny loafers. Know him anywhere.
“But what astounds me is when I step off that bus, my old lady print dress, my orthopedic shoes, they suddenly turn into a poodle skirt, saddle oxfords and bobby socks, and my hair’s tied up in a ponytail. And I fall into his arms because I’m home.”
Viewers were left emotional by the video, with some TikTokers even filming their reactions, sharing footage of themselves teary-eyed.
Australian singer Peach PRC gained over 120,000 views on her reaction to the video, filming herself sobbing. “I have to be in an interview in five minutes and I am snot-nosed bawling at this, I just opened my phone,” she wrote on-screen.
Peach could be seen especially weeping at the “poodle skirt” moment.
On the original video, one TikTok viewer commented: “That was so profound and beautiful.
“I’m so scared of dying and this was so comforting. I hope this is how it is,” added another.
