Merson holds a significant chip lead on the field, which includes reigning WPT Borgata Winter Open winner Aaron Mermelstein (GPI No. 450), who will bring the second most chips to the final table. Still, all eyes will be on Merson later today as he attempts to win the title in his home state:

The final field is split in half … three players have most of the chips while the three others, including rising star Cate Hall (GPI No. 6158), are in a bad spot with less than a million chips at their disposal. All three of these players will need to be active early and hope for a double-up in order to get back into contention … if not, it may be a short day for the trio.
