The Spurs coach gave a “pep talk” to the USA Olympic swimming team Friday at the team’s training center in San Antonio. Popovich brought along Spurs guard Tony Parker, but what made the event truly special was what the 67-year-old coach was wearing. Popovich wore a “Vote for Pedro” T-shirt, a nod to the 2004 movie “Napoleon Dynamite.”

Popovich, who will take over for Mike Krzyzewski as USA Basketball’s head coach in 2020, wore a T-shirt with Tim Duncan’s likeness during a Monday press conference to discuss Duncan’s recent retirement.

USA Swimming posted on Instagram that Popovich and Parker provided insights on team excellence.
There was no word on whether Popovich’s speech included a dance number.
