Despite its name, you won’t have to wait to until you craft a better axe to harvest Weed Stem in Grounded. Instead, you simply need to use the basic axe in the game to harvest it from Dandelions, which are scattered around the starting area in Grounded.
Approach the Dandelions and harvest them to gather around six or so Weed Stems from each one. You can then use these Weed Stems to craft items like Plant Fiber, Basketball Hoops, Cookery, Door Frame, Windowed Stem Wall, Sap Catcher, and more. Many of these items can then be used to craft other items, too––like Plant Fiber.
Weed Stem will continue to play a large part in your progression in Grounded. Other important things you may want to do in Obsidian Entertainment’s backyard survival game include learning how to tame Aphids, which you can ride through the game world to get around more easily.
Players looking to add a bit more challenge to their lives in Grounded can also learn how to find and defeat the Broodmother, a powerful enemy found in the game’s Shroom and Doom update. These more powerful enemies will no doubt challenge your combat skills in the game, so make sure you come equipped with plenty of weapons and consumables to keep you fighting for a bit.
You’ll also want to take some time and make sure you also know how to unlock the Grass Floor recipe and build up the first level of your base.
Learning where to find Weed Stem early in Grounded will make your odds of survival much higher. You can find these useful items from harvesting Dandelions and Weeds in multiple regions in Grounded. These areas include the Eastern Flooded Zone, Flower Bed, Grasslands, Haze, the Hedge Lab, and Oak Hill.
Some other useful areas to check for harvestable Weed Stems include the Sandbox, Shed Surroundings, Woodpile, and the Upper Grasslands. When traveling through these areas, keep an eye out for Dandelions and Weeds, which you can harvest to collect Weed Stems.
Make sure to gather plenty before you settle down and try to set up your base near Dandelions and other useful items. And, once you’ve upgraded to the second axe, you can gather Weed Stems from Weeds themselves, which will net you even more of this useful material.
