During Wednesday night’s game in Denver, the Lakers star was willing to give the sneakers he was wearing to some kids in the stands. But there was a catch.

“They wanted to know what the name of my pet dog was so I gave them a clue,” Bryant said, via the Denver Post. “I said, ‘It’s in a (Harry) Potter film.’ So every time, they threw out like 15 names. The deal was if they got it, I’d give them my shoes. And they got it.”

Bryant has a history of showing his Harry Potter fandom, so it’s not much of a surprise he has a dog named after something from the film series. Bryant reportedly once had a dog named Dumbledore, but the dog he was talking about with the kids is named Crucio. This seems like it’d be a difficult guess considering Crucio is one of the three unforgivable curses in the Harry Potter series.

So, congrats to those kids for the shoes, and below you’ll see a picture of Bryant’s Harry Potter-inspired dog.

“Crucio” is the command for a torture spell, one of the three Unforgivable Curses in Harry Potter lore. But what better way to brand the #HeroVillain of the NBA?
