Styles’ film festival debuts will be back to back, as the singer and actor was in Venice over the weekend attending the Venice Film Festival for the premiere of Don’t Worry Darling, a film that has been shrouded by cast drama and rumored tension on social media.

Footage from Monday’s red carpet event and movie screening showed the tension between the cast of Don’t Worry Darling, including videos of Styles allegedly spitting on co-star Chris Pine that sparked a large controversy.

The incident, formally given the title, #SpitGate, was refuted in a statement by Pine’s team. “This is a ridiculous story—a complete fabrication and the result of an odd online illusion that is clearly deceiving and allows for foolish speculation,” the statement said.

“Just to be clear, Harry Styles did not spit on Chris Pine,” the rep continued. “There is nothing but respect between these two men and any suggestion otherwise is a blatant attempt to create drama that simply does not exist.”

All the while, fans were speculating that Styles and the film director Olivia Wilde’s relationship—which began on the set of Don’t Worry Darling—had ended after the couple arrived separately at the events in Venice. Many further noted that Styles appeared to avoid interacting with his girlfriend at the film festival as well.

And drama between the film’s leading lady Florence Pugh and Wilde also took center stage on Monday, as Pugh and Wilde appeared to also avoid one another.

Don’t Worry Darling is set to be released in theaters on September 23.
