The Rainbow Warriors began Friday’s game with an onside kick against the Bears. Despite a good kick by Hawaii’s Rigoberto Sanchez, the ball was recovered by Cal’s Patrick Laird.

The Warriors did respond to tie the game on a 39-yard touchdown pass from Ikaika Woolsey to Marcus Kemp with 7:39 remaining in the first quarter.
