SANGRIA: You can’t go wrong with the old standby. Make a pitcher of this Spanish treat with wine, brandy and your favorite citrus juice. Add grapes and orange slices for a delicious supersoaked garnish.

CAIPIRINHA: Crush sugar and lime chunks with a pestle, then add cachaca and ice and stir to perfection. But beware: sugary drinks tend to stay in the stomach longer, slowing down absorption into the body.

MICHELADA: Pour a light Mexican brew like Sol into a salt-rimmed glass over lime juice and ice. Add splashes of Worcestershire sauce, Maggi seasoning and Tabasco. Sounds vile, but it’s incredibly refreshing. And the salt replenishes sodium lost through sweat.

SPIKED GATORADE: One part sports drink, one part vodka. The Gatorade is engineered to quench your thirst, and the vodka–well, you know.
