The top five remained the same with Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud, Tennessee quarterback Hendon Hooker, USC quarterback Caleb Williams, Michigan running back Blake Corum and Alabama quarterback Bryce Young holding pat.

Clemson quarterback DJ Uiagalelei was sixth in last week’s betting odds to win the Heisman Trophy at +2500, according to the Fanduel.com sportsbook. Since then, Uiagalelei was benched Saturday in Clemson’s come-from-behind win over Syracuse. Uiagalelei, who has fallen from the top 25 of Fanduel’s favorites, was replaced by freshman Cade Klubnik. Klubnik led a Clemson comeback victory, and now he’s a longshot at +30,000.

Two players who surged Saturday were Oregon quarterback Bo Nix and Oklahoma State quarterback Spencer Sanders, who led their top-10 teams to impressive home wins. Nix led the Ducks to a 45-30 win over previously unbeaten UCLA. Sanders led a fourth quarter comeback to beat the No. 20 Texas Longhorns, 41-34.

Both Nix and Sanders are at +4100 in the current odds. Of the top seven, six are quarterbacks and Corum is the lone running back, or non-quarterback.

With Ohio State’s 54-10 win over Iowa, Stroud went from +200 to minus-105 in the odds.

Here are the top seven current favorites with their odds to win the Heisman Trophy by season’s end. (Note: a $100 bet would win $200 for +200 odds, and $2,500 for +2500 odds, etc. In other cases, a minus-105 odd would mean that $105 would need to be wagered to win $100.)

-105 — CJ Stroud (QB, Ohio State) +200 — Hendon Hooker (QB, Tennessee) +1200 — Caleb Williams (QB, USC) +1400 — Blake Corum (RB, Michigan) +2500 — Bryce Young (QB, Alabama) +4100 — Bo Nix (QB, Auburn) +4100 — Spencer Sanders (QB, Oklahoma State)

Young from Alabama, who won the trophy in the 2021 season, was in second before the Tennessee game on Oct. 15. He dropped to fifth after that game and Tennessee’s Hooker moved into second. Both kept their places this week.

The Heisman Trophy is awarded annually to the most outstanding player in college football. Voting is comprised of 870 media members spread across six geographic regions, 58 living Heisman winners and one vote from a collective fan vote.

Heisman voters get to choose their top three candidates (in order) for the most-coveted individual trophy in college football.

Heisman Trophy finalists for 2022 will be named on Dec. 5, which is the same day as the voting deadline. The ceremony will take place Saturday, Dec. 10 when the winner is announced.

Note: Newsweek deputy editor Scott McDonald is a voting member with the Heisman Trust, and the current odds do not necessarily reflect how he will vote at the end of the season.
