SimCity 2000 (Windows only version): When you’re building a city, type “buddamus” to get an extra $500,000 and unleash time–warping possibilities–like the ability to add a nuclear power plant to your city in the year 1900. Also, try typing “joke.”
Newton 110: Write “find el-vis” on the notepad. Tap assist. The time-zone map will pop up and tell you the city where Elvis was last sighted.
Macintosh System 7.5: Open the notepad from the Apple menu. Type “secret about box.” Highlight the text and drag it to the desktop for an Atari-style breakout game.
QuarkXPress 3.3 (for Macintosh): Select an item within a document and press shift-option-command-k. A rainbow-colored Martian will march in from the left margin and blast, irrevocably, your item with its ray gun.
Doom: Typing “idkfa” at any point during play will give you all the guns and all the ammo.
