Citing “antifa thugs” which turned Milwaukee, Portland and Seattle into “warzones,” Banks says the bill would help curb violence and looting at nationwide protests over police brutality and racial injustice. Additionally, any person convicted of a federal offense at a demonstration would be ineligible to receive any pandemic unemployment compensation....

Rep. Briscoe Cain was reacting to O’Rourke’s statement that he would push for a ban on the possession of certain military-style rifles used in mass shootings in Texas, including in his home town of El Paso, which left 22 people dead, and Odessa and Midland, which killed eight. In his opening remarks during the Democrat debate on Thursday night in Houston, O’Rourke said that the El Paso victims were killed and injured by a man carrying a weapon “he should never been able to buy in the first place,” and who had “been inspired to kill by our president....

Haley, who previously served as the governor of South Carolina from 2011 to 2017, worked for one year as Trump’s top diplomat to the U.N. from January 2017 to 2018. She left the administration but has remained supportive of Trump. In a press release on Wednesday, Stefanik announced that five hospitals in her district will receive $12.9 million in grants from the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Some of the hospitals receiving funding include the Adirondack Medical Center, the Carthage Area Hospital, and the Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center. “This significant investment will help bolster rural hospitals in Upstate New York and the North Country after lost revenues due to the coronavirus pandemic, help address the physician shortage, and ensure these hospitals can continue to meet our community’s healthcare needs,” Stefanik said....

Trump announced Bolton’s departure on Twitter, thanking the adviser for his service and noting that Bolton’s replacement would be named next week. “I informed John Bolton last night that his services are no longer needed at the White House,” Trump wrote. “I disagreed strongly with many of his suggestions, as did others in the Administration.” A notorious foreign policy hawk, Bolton reportedly clashed with Trump numerous times over the administration’s approach to America’s adversaries....

Johnson has backed Trump’s unsubstantiated claims of widespread voter fraud, but according to Mark Becker—a former Brown County supervisor and former chairman of the Republican Party there—the senator told him privately on a call three weeks ago that he accepted Biden’s victory. “My discussion with Senator Ron Johnson was one that I have hesitated openly discussing for three weeks. As a former chairman for the Brown County Republican Party, I have people I respect deeply who are still members of the party,” Becker wrote in an article for conservative news site The Bulwark....

Heading into the critical fall campaign, the results indicate continued momentum for Gore, who has seen a twenty point swing since early August, when he trailed Bush by ten points prior to the Democratic National Convention....

During an appearance on CBS News’ Face the Nation on Sunday, Murphy said that New Jersey’s warnings about the storm’s dangers were “loud and clear” in response to questions about how forceful they were. “We screamed loud and clear: tornado warnings, flood warnings, flash flood warnings,” Murphy said. “We begged people to get off the road.
